Tools

Importing content into Twistage is easy. Content producers who upload several new videos per week can do so using our management console, by pulling content in from their own computer or from a remote filesystem. This is the simplest way to get started with Twistage.

If you're creating a user-generated content (UGC) site, our skinnable, embeddable upload wizard is expressly designed for integration into your website, allowing your end-users to upload content without ever leaving your site. The wizard can be completely configured from within our management console, even after it has been integrated into your site, providing you with complete control over the end-user experience. The wizard can even be localized into virtually any language.

For working with large content libraries, our API suite includes powerful tools used for automating the ingest process. The API provides complete control over the ingest workflow, including setting user-supplied metadata or custom metadata, extracting still frame images, selecting encoding profiles, and more. Our batch uploader desktop application is built on top of the API and provides similar functionality in an easy-to-use, cross-platform graphical user interface (GUI).

Workflow

The ingest process is designed to efficiently import massive quantities of your content in a streamlined, scalable fashion. Content is validated the moment it arrives on our servers and metadata is extracted. If the content has been configured to be encoded into one or more output assets, this can be done in parallel across our server cloud to eliminate delays and make content available as soon as possible. The progress of each encoding request can be monitored separately. At the conclusion of each encode process, the output file is placed in storage (either Twistage cloud storage or the storage option of your choice). The content can be made available immediately but can also be scheduled to become available at a later date in the future, depending on your requirements.

Hooks

Your server can subscribe to messages from Twistage throughout the content lifecycle. They provide a simple, yet powerful to synchronize your CMS with Twistage. For example, when a video is first uploaded, Twistage can send your server a notification including the unique ID of the new content; your server might record this ID in your database. Whenever the video is modified within Twistage, such as changes to the metadata, availability, or encoded output assets, your server will be automatically notified of the change. Finally, when a video is deleted in Twistage, your server will be notified so that the reference to the video can be cleared.

In addition to providing tools that allow organizations to create custom hook actions, Twistage also has pre-built hooks that can be activated in a turnkey way. The email hook can be configured to email specific users or lists of users based on specific actions. For example, if you want your content moderation team to receive an email every time a new video is uploaded into your account, you can simply type in the appropriate email address and it will automatically start working. Additional hooks provide the ability to push your content into 3rd-party sites. In particular, Twistage has both YouTube and TubeMogul integrations, enabling syndication and synchronization with those services without requiring any development work.
