Twistage's granular Content Management System (CMS) simplifies the process of organizing and sorting your content. Each piece of content managed by Twistage is referenced as a digital media object. Our management console allows you to preview these objects and review both user-supplied metadata, such as description or keyword tags, as well as technical metadata, such as frame rate or aspect ratio. All of the metadata for your content is accessible 24x7 within our management console and via our API suite. Before being completely deleted, discarded objects are first placed into a “trash can,” allowing you to recover them if you change your mind afterwards.
Each video or audio track uploaded into Twistage can contain one or more assets, representing a specific encoding of the content in a specific format, such as Flash video, MP4/H.264, 3GP, QuickTime, WAV, MP3, and AAC. (Twistage supports literally hundreds of formats – too many to list here!) Depending on how you plan to make your content available to your users, you might decide to encode each video into multiple output assets, optimizing your assets for a variety of devices and Internet connections.
In addition to the encoded assets you create, Twistage will keep a copy of each originally uploaded source asset for archiving and re-encoding purposes. Due to the very nature of digital media files, each time a video is encoded from one format to another, it loses a bit of quality, so whenever you encode a video, it's important to start with the highest-quality source file possible. As with the metadata associated with the media objects themselves, the assets are all available to you – source and as well as transcoded output assets – both inside the management console and programmatically.
Twistage libraries are an essential tool for managing large volumes of content. Each library can contain an unlimited number of digital media objects. A library can also be configured with business rules for how the content in that library should be stored, delivered, encoded, moderated, and more. Using Twistage Access Control, it's possible to create a separate user login for access to a single library, allowing you to selectively grant access to specific members of your organization.
Using Twistage, you can make your content available immediately on your site or schedule it to become available at a date and time in the future. Schedules can be applied on a per-video basis, providing the ultimate in flexibility. Content can also be marked to become hidden or deleted, which is ideal for restricted content that can be made available only during a limited time window.
