Remote Content References

Twistage's content management system has been designed from the ground up to support content stored in any location. Often, content is physically hosted on servers managed by Twistage. In this case, after new content has been uploaded, verified, and processed, it is simultaneously added to our digital asset management system and the Twistage CMS includes what are essentially "local" references to that content. Other times, however, content is not uploaded at all to a Twistage server. In these cases, the Twistage asset management system can refer to content even though the content has never passed through the ingest process.

The key that makes it possible for Twistage to manage contently remotely is a decoupling of the ingest process from content registration. Permanent content references can be created at any time either manually, within the management console, or in an automated programmatic fashion, using content registration APIs. The system is designed with flexibility in mind so that content that has been registered within the asset management system can be reprocessed at any time. Even so, the original content references are always maintained, ensuring an uninterrupted end-user experience.

Configuring Twistage to refer to content on a secure, remote filesystem can be convenient when securing content is required. Such content, whether it is confidential to your company or subject to access rights, may not be legally permitted to reside on a Twistage-managed server. Remote content references can also be convenient when importing a large library of content which has already been prepared for the desired destination, such as when the content is already available on your own storage area network. The only information that must be stored within Twistage to refer to your content is the URL pointing to the content itself.
